Why would I trust AI?

If you research “nursing and artificial intelligence”, you will read about efficiency, speed and support. But what you are really thinking is, “Why would I trust AI?”.

Let’s take a step back and look at our fears regarding artificial intelligence.

  • More tech when what we have doesn’t work well

  • Feeling we need to double-check something, that is double-checking us

  • More to learn when our brains are already full as clinicians

  • and the biggest fear - I will lose my job, my sense of security, or the thing I care the most about – the human care that I give may be going away

I am here to tell you; AI is not going away. We can’t fight it and we shouldn’t.

I won’t try to convince you in a blog, but I would encourage you to keep learning with an open mind. Why?

Because YOU can influence how AI transforms nursing, regardless of your role.

From bedside nurse to manager to informaticist, we will have the biggest influence if we become involved. From little ways, to a new career, stop putting blinders on and allowing tech experts, that have not worked in direct patient care, take the lead and the credit for the wave that is coming.

Want to explore how AI could make your shift better? If AI does the busy work, to leave the true hands-on care to us, what would that look like?

How can I help?

How can I design this future?
