10 Secrets if You’re Getting into Healthcare Sales

Here are the secrets from my most influential mentors and my 15 years of experience in healthcare sales. These bits of wisdom will provide unbelievable success and help you get over the painful moments in sales.

1.     You can do this!

If you have a 9-5 job and don’t think a commission-based job will make you more money and provide more happiness, you’re wrong. It may be uncomfortable at first, but commission or bonus pay that you receive IF you sell, is achievable! And the flexibility with a sales role is amazing.

2.     Don’t listen to me!

You will have your own style, so don’t listen to or mimic ANYONE, including other sales reps or your boss. It may be natural to look to others to learn and this is great for the basics, but YOUR style is how you will succeed.

3.     Always tell the truth!

Sometimes it seems counterintuitive to tell a client or prospect what is “wrong” with your product or service, but you must! Transparency and honesty are priceless. Even if you sell less at one company, if you change companies and stay honest, you will have clients for life, regardless of where you work.

4.     Be passionate or get out!

If you don’t like the product you’re selling, don’t like your clients or don’t like selling, fix it or GET OUT! Don’t like the product, help with Product Development. Don’t like your clients, get new ones. Don’t like selling, GET OUT of sales.

 5.     Get uncomfortable!

Healthcare sales is not for the faint-hearted; you need to get uncomfortable and try everything and then figure out what works, even if it is embarrassing or painful. Eventually you will find your comfort zone.
